Kolkata, May 21 (IBNS): IPS officer Rajeev Kumar, who was removed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) before the recently concluded West Bengal assembly polls, was reinstated as the Kolkata Police Commissioner on Saturday.

Before the assembly elections, opposition parties had submitted complaints against Rajeev Kumar before the ECI.

The commission removed Kumar from the post.

Senior IPS officer Soumen Mitra was made the Police Commissioner of the state's capital.

Rajeev Kumar was sent to the post of West Bengal Anti Corruption Bureau's ADG.

Soumen Mitra has been made the ADG and IGP of Training section.

The move was made just days after Mamata Banerjee and her TMC came to power in West Bengal for the second term by winning the Assembly polls.

The results of the polls were announced on Thursday. TMC won 211 seats.
