Lucknow, Apr 15 (IBNS): Days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi for meeting the Shahi Imam, the party's president Rajnath Singh has now met an important Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe in Lucknow.
Kalbe on Tuesday praised Singh and told NDTV channel: "We are scared of Narendra Modi, but Rajnath Singh has the acceptability of Vajpayee."

Besides Maulana Jawad, Rajnath Singh on Tuesday also met other prominent Muslim leaders like Maulana Kalbe Sadiq and Maulana Khalid Rasheed.

"Had meetings with renowned clerics like Maulana Kalbe Sadiq, Maulana Kahild Rasheed and Maulana Kalbe Jawad in Lko (Lucknow)," the BJP president tweeted, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Lucknow.

These meetings are seen as an attempt to take the Muslim community in confidence.

Uttar Pradesh is a significant state in the Lok Sabha elections with 80 parliamentary seats, which has 18 percent Muslims voters.
