Mumbai, Sept 8 (IBNS): Hours after the Mumbai Police chief was replaced, the Maharashtra government on Tuesday evening clarified that Rakesh Maria will continue to head investigations into the Sheena Bora murder probe, media reports said.
This comes after Mumbai Police chief Rakesh Maria was replaced though with a promotion as  Director General of Home Guards, Maharashtra, reports said.

Maria has been personally handling the Sheena murder case which recorded a significant development with the DNA sample of Indrani Mukerjea, the prime suspect, matching that of Sheena to prove that they were they were really mother and daughters.

Maria, 58, has spent long hours extensively interrogating former media executive Indrani Mukerjea and those linked to her for the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012.

Those questioned include  Indrani Mukerjea's  ex-husband Sanjiv Khanna and her driver Shyam Rai - both were arrested two weeks ago - and her current husband Peter Mukerjea.

Maria regularly briefed media on important developments of the probe.
