Ramdev along with 400 students stranded in Gangotri

Dehradun, July 16 (IBNS): As heavy rains created havoc in the state of Uttarakhand, yoga guru Baba Ramdev along with some 400 students are among thousands of pilgrims stranded in Gangotri due to the bad weather, reports said on Wednesday.
He had reportedly gone ahead with the pilgrimage programme despite an alert issued by the Met department of Uttarakhand.

The state DGP has said that action will be taken against him if any untoward incident happens to the students, reports said.

Meanwhile, the pilgrimage and tourist movement to Char Dham in Uttarakhand has been suspended owing to heavy landslides and rain.

Roads to all the four dhams or pilgrim sites- Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath- were blocked owing to the calamity.

Heavy rains are predicted in next 24 hours and warnings have been issued.

Uttarakhand witnessed devastating "Himalayan Tsunami" last year killing many and also wiping out habitations. Even the area around the Kedarnath temple was wiped out.

Char Dham  are the names of four pilgrimage sites in India that are widely revered by Hindus.
