Rapist-killer of Bhopal horror arrested in Khandwa

Bhopal, June 10 (UNI): The man accused of raping and strangling a nine-year-old, in the Madhya Pradesh capital, has been placed under arrest in his native Khandwa District’s Mortakka.

“He was taken into custody following scrutiny of identification documents and is being brought here. A charge sheet will be submitted within 48 hours and our endeavour shall be to ensure sentencing in a period not exceeding a month,” Additional Superintendent of Police Akhil Patel said on Monday.

In the context of the victim’s relatives gheraoing a police station on Monday as well, the officer averred that their anger was justified.

After the girl was targeted in Kamla Nagar locality where she resided, seven law enforcement personnel including an assistant sub-inspector were placed under suspension for dereliction of duty. Late Saturday, the child went to a shop near her dwelling but failed to return. The corpse was discovered early Sunday beside a nullah in front of the Indian Institute of Forest Management.
