Re-polling in Kairana, Bhandara-Gondiya, Nagaland parliamentary constituencies underway

Kairana/Bhandara/Kohima, May 30 (IBNS): Re-polling in 73 polling stations of Uttar Pradesh's Kairana, 49 polling booths in Maharashtra's Bhandara-Gondiya and one polling booth of Nagaland parliamentary constituencies, where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were reportedly malfunctioned two days ago, are underway on Wednesday.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) had ordered a re-election in the particular polling booths after people could not cast their vote due to the malfunctioning of EVMs.

The by-elections in the three parliamentary constituencies were held on May 28.

Along with Kairana and Bhandara-Gondiya, one other parliamentary constituency and ten assembly seats across the country went to by-polls on Monday.

The Kairana seat is crucial for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as it is taking on a united opposition in the electoral battle.

The poll results will be declared on Thursday.
