Renaming stadium after PM Modi reveals truth about 'Hum Do Humare Do': Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a dig at Narendra Modi on Wednesday after the Motera Stadium in Gujarat was renamed after Prime Minister.

Gandhi also revived the charges of crony capitalism that according to him were illustrated in the way the two of its stands were named.

He also pointed out that the renaming came at a time when PM's close aide Amit Shah's son Jay Sah is presiding as the treasurer of the Indian cricket board BCCI.

The Congress MP made references to Reliance and Adani to state that two of India's biggest business houses led by billionaires from Gujarat - Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani run the country with PM Modi and Amit Shah.

Gandhi also added the slogan "Hum Dom Humare Do" -to indicate the country being run by four men-  PM Modi and Amit Shah and two of their closest business groups.

The decade-old slogan was used by the Congress government to spread the motto of India's family planning programme that advocates for families to have two children to control its population growth

In a tweet, Gandhi wrote: "Beautiful how the truth reveals itself. Narendra Modi stadium - Adani end - Reliance end
With Jay Shah presiding."

The revamped Motera Stadium, which was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday, is the largest cricket stadium in the world with a capacity of 1,10,000.

Responding to those like Gandhi who criticised the renaming of the stadium, the ruling BJP's Amit Malviya posted: "The usual suspects have a problem just because the cricket stadium, which is one of the many facilities in the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave, has been named after PM Narendra Modi?Get used to it!
Today, several people speak of India and PM Modi in the same breath..."
