Restrictions in Srinagar following Hurriyat's march call

 Speaking to IBNS on phone Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range S. Geelani said, "Restrictions have been imposed in old city areas of Maisuma, Kralkhud, M.R. Gunj, Safakadal, Nowhatta, Khanyar and Rainawari of Srinagar and Parimpora, to maintain law and order,".

 The senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani has called for a protest march to the residence of the 22-year old Gowhar Ahmad Dar who died after a teargas shell lobbed  by CRPF personnel hit his head on November seven.

The police officer said said no one will be allowed to reach HMT Zainkote. "We are keeping vigil on everyone's movement in the city and we have placed all Separatist leaders, including Geelani, Miwaiz Umer Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah, Asiya Andrabi and others  under preventive detention,"

 Srinagar remains  tense since November six, a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in the city.

 Hurriyat factions called a parallel rally to counter Modi’s Rally on the same day  same and gave call for a march.

Taking strict action, Kashmir police have arrested arrested around 300 Hurriyat workers across the valley.   

 Shops, public transport and other businesses remained closed in Srinagar on Wednesday.

 The State government has already ordered an official inquiry into the death of the youth.

 Meanwhile, Central Reserve Protection Force has directed all CRPF formations to be more careful while firing shells or rubber bullets.

 It has stated that magisterial inquiry into the November seven incident has been ordered, and so, if anybody from CRPF is found to be at fault then strict disciplinary action will be taken.
