At least four Indian expatriates, including three siblings and their domestic help, were killed in a car accident in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Sunday, according to media reports.

A relative told Gulf News that the family, originally from Kerala, was returning to their home in Dubai after attending the Liwa Festival when the tragedy occurred. Three young children and their maid lost their lives in the crash, while the children’s parents and two other siblings sustained serious injuries.

The deceased were identified as Ashaz (14), Ammaar (12), and Ayyash (5), the sons of Abdul Latheef and his wife Ruksana, along with the family’s domestic worker, Bushra, a social worker assisting the family told Gulf News.

Abdul Latheef, Ruksana, and their two other children — Ezzaa (10) and Azzam (7) — are currently undergoing treatment at a medical facility in Abu Dhabi. One of the injured family members remains in critical condition, the relative said.

“The accident took place early this morning. Several relatives and friends rushed to the hospital soon after,” the social worker said, adding that the family has decided to lay the children to rest in the UAE. “We are supporting them with funeral arrangements and the process to repatriate the mortal remains of the maid.”

According to local media reports, the injured are receiving treatment at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi.
