RJD politician Shahabuddin released from jail after 11 years

Patna, Sept 10 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): RJD politician Mohammad Shahabuddin was released from jail after 11 years on Saturday.

Amid vociferous shouting of slogans by his supporters, Shahabuddin came out of Bhagalpur central prison early Saturday morning and left for his hometown Siwan in a cavalcade of cars.


Hundreds of supporters and RJD leaders gathered outside the jail gate since early morning to receive their leader.

“Nitish Kumar is a chief minister by circumstances. My leader is Lalu Praasd,” he told the media soon coming out jail.

His release from jail followed the bail granted by the Patna High Court on Wednesday in a case of murder.

Shahabuddin, who is an accused ii around 50 criminal cases such as murder, kidnapping, extortion and  sedition, have been granted bail in most of the case owing to lack of evidence.

The controversial RJD politician lodged in jail since 2005 was shifted to Bhagalpur prison after the murder of a journalist Rajdeo Ranjan.

The action followed soon after a large number of cell phones and SIM cards were recovered from the Siwan jail where Shahabuddin was lodged then.
