RJD workers attack BJP office in Patna

| | May 18, 2017, at 02:21 am
Patna, May 17 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Angry RJD workers on Wednesday attacked the office of the BJP in Patna apparently irked at the saffron camp constantly targeting the RJD chief Lalu Prasad.

The attack, which left some six persons wounded, comes barely a day after the IT sleuths conducted raids at Prasad’s properties in Delhi.

The incident took place when the RJD workers took out a protest march in the state capital to register protests against IT raids on Lalu properties.

Witnesses said while taking out the march, the RJD workers suddenly stopped outside the office of the BJP located on the Beerchand Patel road and began shouting slogans in favour of Lalu Prasad.

Soon the people came out of the office and retaliated by shouting slogans against Lalu which ultimately resulted in violent clash between the rival sides.

Reports said during the clash, the both sides attacked each other with stones, lathis and rods, leaving at least six people wounded.

"Most RJD workers were shirtless and stinking with alcohol. They started raising loud slogans in front of our office, following which we locked the entrance gate. Knowing the fact that most of our workers were in the dharna at Gardanibagh, they tried to break the gate and enter inside the office. Failing to do so, they started pelting stones and threw alcohol bottles inside the office. They also broke window panes of few of the cars parked in front of the office," a BJP leader Brajesh Tiwari was quoted as saying in The Times of India on Wednesday.

The BJP described as desperation of RJD and announced to give a befitting reply to the RJD without indulging in violence.

“Perhaps Lalu wants to silence the voice of the opposition but the BJP is not going to be cowed down,” announced senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi.

He also declared to burn the effigies of Lalu Prasad and chief minister Nitish Kumar across the state tomorrow as a mark of protest.

The RJD said the attack was first made by the BJP people and the RJD workers only retaliated.
