Rose Valley: CBI summons TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhyay, Mamata calls it BJP's vendetta politics

Kolkata, Dec 21 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday sent notice to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP Sudip Bandopadhyay for the second time in connection with its ongoing probe in the Rose Valley financial scam, officials said.

According to reports, a notice was earlier sent to Sudip Bandopadhyay a month ago, where he was asked to visit CBI office in Kolkata for interrogation and as the TMC leader ignored the CBI's call, the central probe agency summoned him again.

"We sent him fax and email, asking him to attend CBI office in Salt Lake's CGO Complex by Thursday, and also called him up to inform the same," a CBI official told IBNS.

The official also said that it was their second reminder for attendance, while the probe agency generally takes legal action against a person, who avoids attending its office after third reminder call.

Meanwhile, showing her anger over the CBI notice to Sudip Bandopadhyay, Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee tweeted: "Why is BJP govt doing vendetta politics? Our party LS leader got 3 calls from CBI .Nothing will deter us from fight against #DeMonetisation."

Accepting that he received call from the CBI, TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhyay said, "CBI called me thrice and said that I have to attend their office on Thursday."

However, Banerjee did not clear if he would attend CBI office on the given date or ignore it again.

Meanwhile, flaying Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his demonetisation move, Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said the currency ban is a big scam and the prime minister himself should be probed for the same.

While addressing her party workers in a rally here in East Midnapore, Banerjee said, "Demonetisation is a big, big scam. We want investigation against you [PM Modi], your government and your party."

Launching a fresh salvo at the central government, Bengal Chief Minister earlier tweeted that the raid in Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary's house was vindictive, unethical and technically improper.

"Earlier the Principal Secretary of @ArvindKejriwal was raided and harassed. Now i read Chief Secretary TN also raided. Why this vindictive, unethical, technically improper action? Is it only to disturb the federal structure?" Banerjee tweeted.
