RPF seizes huge quantity of Chinese goods in West Bengal

Guwahati/IBNS: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized huge quantity of Chinese made goods in West Bengal’s Coochbehar.

Officials of Railway Protection Force (RPF) of New Coochbehar under Alipurduar division of Northeast Frontier Railway led by Sub Inspector B. N. Bhowmick, Assistant Sub Inspector S. K. Roy during a search under the supervision of Ravi Kumar, Inspector of RPF at New Coochbehar noticed six suspicious cartons lying near the parcel ramp opposite to new station building of New Coochbehar.

Later, it was found that the packets contain Chinese made accessories like 820 numbers of mobile batteries, 640 numbers of mobile LCD touch display made in China.

The value of seized Chinese items was to the tune of Rs 2, 15,200.

A top official of NF Railway said later, the seized articles were handed over to Customs department.

The RPF personnel of NF Railway have detected more than 655 cases of smugling and recovered contraband worth Rs 17,93,72,180 and arrested 185 people between 2017 to 2020 till July.
