Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said he had a productive discussion with  Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpashon establishing a long-term cooperation framework concerning Chabahar Port.

Jaishankar posted on X: "Detailed and productive discussion on establishing a long-term cooperation framework with respect to Chabahar port."

He said he also exchanged views with the Iranian leader over the International North-South Transport Corridor.

It is a multi-mode network of ship, rail, and road route for moving freight between India, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Central Asia and Europe.

Where is Chabahar Port located?

Chabahar Port is a seaport in Chabahar located in southeastern Iran, on the Gulf of Oman.

It serves as Iran's only oceanic port, and consists of two separate ports named Shahid Kalantari and Shahid Beheshti, each of which has five berths.

It is a crucial port as far as India's connectivity is concerned since it provides a viable and shorter route for trade between India, Iran, Afghanistan, and Central Asia.

Jaishanakr visited Iran on January 14 and January 15.
