S Jaishankar meets Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk, affirms New Delhi's support for Himalayan nation's sustainable transformation

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently met visiting Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk and affirmed India’s support for the vision of sustainable transformation of the neighbouring country.

Jaishankar said the King shared with him his experience of visiting Assam.

"Privilege to call on His Majesty, the King of Bhutan shortly after his arrival in New Delhi," Jaishankar wrote on X.

"Pleased to hear about the experience of his first visit to Assam," he said.

"India supports the vision of sustainable transformation of Bhutan under His Majesty’s guidance," the Indian Minister said.

Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, accompanied by senior officials of the Royal Government of Bhutan, is on an official visit to India from Nov 3-10.

"During the visit, His Majesty the King of Bhutan will meet the Prime Minister of India. The External Affairs Minister and senior officials of Government of India will call on His Majesty the King of Bhutan. His Majesty the King of Bhutan will also visit the states of Assam and Maharashtra," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.
