S Jaishankar meets Bhutanese parliamentary delegation, discusses various aspects of multifaceted and unique friendship shared by neighbouring nations

New Delhi: Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday met a Bhutanese delegation and discussed various aspects of the multifaceted and unique friendship between the neighbouring nations.

" Pleased to interact with Wangchuk Namgyel, Speaker of National Assembly  of Bhutan and his 13 member parliamentary delegation today," Jaishankar tweeted.

"Discussed our multifaceted and unique friendship, especially ongoing reform, stronger economic cooperation and the priorities of youth," he said.

On Monday, the Bhutanese delegation had called on Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar in Parliament.

The delegation had also called on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday who said that India would always be a reliable friend to Bhutan and noted the Rs 2,400-crore allocation for Bhutan in this year's Union Budget.

Birla said the 'Neighbourhood First' policy, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given a new direction to India-Bhutan relations.
