SC gives its decision on the Lodha panel recommendations for BCCI

New Delhi, Jul 18 (IBNS): The Indian Supreme Court has given its decision on cricket reforms on Monday and has said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) mus follow the recommendations of the Lodha Panel, according to media reports.

The two-judge bench, consisting of Chief Justice TS Thakur and Justice Ibrahim Kalifullah, has accepted many of the Lodha Panel's recommendations that were aimed at reforming the administering of Indian cricket by the BCCI and its affiliated units.

The apex court has said that no ministers will be included in BCCI and there will be an age cap of 70 years, media reported.

BCCI will also have to implement the one-state-one-vote policy.

States like Maharashtra and Gujarat, whose multiple affiliated units enjoy voting rights, will now cast their votes on a rotational basis.

The apex court has given BCCI six months to implement the recommendations of the Lodha Panel.

According to media reports, the SC was not happy with the method of distribution of funds in the BCCI.

BCCI president Anurag Thakur has refused to respond to the Supreme Court order and said he will have to 'study' the judgement, reported NDTV.

The Lodha Panel, which was formed in January 2015 to look into the IPL scandal, was also asked by the SC to make recommendations to the BCCI to prevent frauds and streamline its administration. RM Lodha led the panel which also had two other members. Lodha was the Chief Justice of India from April to September 2014.
