SC says no to national anthem in courts plea
The plea was made by Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) Ashwani Kumar Upadhyay, a lawyer.
Referring to the plea, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi had submitted that the petitioner should file a proper application, media reported.
Earlier during the week, the apex court had okayed the playing of the Indian national anthem at all cinema halls prior to screening of the movie and all exits will remain shut during this period, media reported.
The apex court stressed that everyone should rise for the anthem, with the national flag on the screen, because citizens "are duty-bound to show respect to the national anthem which is the symbol of the constitutional patriotism," NDTV reported.
