Security forces injure two NSCN-IM militants in gun fight in Manipur’s Bishnupur

Guwahati/IBNS: Two militants of NSCN-IM were injured in a gun fight with security forces in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.

The incident took place between Laimaton and Upper Ngaryan area in Bishnupur district on Saturday evening.

According to reports, the security forces received a tip off about extortion of truck drivers by a militant group in general areas of Laimaton, after which a combined team of Assam Rifles and Bishnupur district police commando went to the area to trap them.

When the troops reached the area, the militants started firing and bullets were exchanged.

Two militants were injured in the gun battle while some others managed to escape from the area.

The two injured cadres were identified as Jaoilen Chiru and Jainthaningam Longmei.

Security forces had recovered one AK rifle with magazine, one pistol with magazine, three mobile phones, extortion receipts, some cash, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID and one ATM Card from the area.

The two militants were admitted at Bishnupur district hospital and the recovered items were handed over to Bishnupur police.
