According to minister for rural works Shailesh Kumar, action has been taken against a total of 35 engineers for these twin charges.

While seven have been dismissed from government jobs, two were placed under suspension. The rest of the erring engineers have their increments held up, the minister has told the media.

Earlier this month, the state government announced to confiscate the property of 21 corrupt officials who earned huge wealth through alleged fraudulent means.

The accused officials include District Transport Officers, District Welfare Officers, Sub-Divisional Officers, revenue officials, assistant engineers, district managers, Mukhiyas, police inspectors, clerks and teachers.

They all were caught by the vigilance sleuths for having made huge money.
