Seventeen-year-old girl commits suicide after her obscene photos appeared on social media

Guwahati, Jun 6 (IBNS): A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after objectionable photos appeared on social media.

The incident happened at Balachera area under Borkhola assembly constituency in Assam’s Cachar district on Jun 5.

According to the reports, the girl had committed suicide by hanging herself with a cloth at her residence.

The family members of the girl had lodged an FIR with the Borkhola police against a youth identified as Sudip Das, who allegedly posted the obscene pictures of the girl on social media.

The family members said that, the girl slipped into severe depression after her obscene photos appeared on social media.

The body had been sent to Silchar Medical College hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Borkhola police station and police started investigation.

The accused youth is currently absconding.
