Several NE militant groups call for boycott R-Day celebration, security beefed up

Guwahati/IBNS:Ahead of the Republic Day celebration, security has been beefed up in Assam and other parts of the North Eastern region.

Several banned militant groups of the North Eastern region have called for boycotting the Republic Day celebrations in the region.

The Assam police, CRPF, BSF personnel have been deployed in all sensitive areas of Assam.

Checking, patrolling are underway in different places of Assam and other parts of the North Eastern region in the run-up to the Republic Day celebrations.

In Karimganj district of Assam, the BSF personnel have also increased vigil in the bordering areas along Indo-Bangladesh border.

About 14 insurgent groups of the North Eastern region including banned United Liberation Front of Asom (Independence) or ULFA (I), CorCom in Manipur have called for boycotting the Republic Day celebrations and called shut down the region on January 26.
