New Delhi/IBNS: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here at a time the Maharashtra government, of which his party is a key entity, is facing trouble.

Pawar's meeting with the Prime Minister lasted for about 50 minutes, reports say.

The meeting, where Pawar claimed he had discussed matters of national interest with Modi, was held just two days ahead of the beginning of the monsoon session of Parliament.

Pawar's meeting with Modi, the supreme face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), assumes significance as the NCP chief is one of those Indian politicians who are trying to build an Opposition unity.

However, Pawar recently said no decision has been taken over the 2024 General Elections.

"The political situation keeps changing," the senior politician said.

Over the last several weeks, former political strategist Prashant Kishor, who has helped regional satrap Trinamool Congress (TMC) to defeat the BJP in West Bengal in Mar-Apr polls, met Pawar thrice, triggering speculations of new political equations.
