Mumbai/IBNS: A Shiv Sena lawmaker made a contractor sit on a waterlogged road and asked people to dump trash on him as a punishment for allegedly not getting the drains cleaned properly.

In the video that has gone viral, Dilip Lande, MLA from Kandivali constituency in north Mumbai, is seen asking the contractor to sit on the waterlogged road and another person walks up to him and pushes him. The MLA then went on to direct two other men to carry heaps of garbage and slush and dump them over the contractor.

According to media reports, the contractor had not been showing up to get the drains cleaned and with the city receiving heavy monsoon rainfall over the past few days the clogged drains led to waterlogging on the streets.

The MLA later told the media that those given the responsibility to clean the drains were not showing up to do their job.

He arrived with Shiv Sainiks and local unit party chief to clean the drain as he felt it was his duty to resolve the problem since people have put their trust in him and elected him as an MLA.

The contractor was taken there as he was not doing his job he said, he said.

It is worth noting that Shiv Sena has been heading the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the past 25 years.
