Smriti Irani slams Sonia Gandhi
New Delhi, Sept 8 (IBNS): Hours after Sonia Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani hit out at the Congress supremo and said she tried to hide her own party's shortcomings and failures by making such remarks.
"She is trying to hide the failed policies of her own party by attacking the PM," Smriti Irani said while addressing a press conference here.
"Naga Peace Accord was also signed during the NDA rule. It is something which the Congress could not do,"Irani said.
Speaking on the OROP issue, she said: "The issue of OROP was implemented during the NDA tenure."
She said the Congress leaders only tried to disrupt proceedings in the Rajya Sabha.
Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the promises that he had made before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls were nothing more than 'hawa baazi' (empty talks).
"Painfully clear that most of pledges made by PM during election campaign were nothing more than 'hawa baazi' (empty talks)," SoniaGandhi made the remarks at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting.
"Prime Minister has been reduced to unedifying flip-flops creating confusion on what he really stands for," she said.
Attacking the government on the policy on Pakistan, Sonia Gandhi said: "The security situation in our neighbourhood has deteriorated considerably..Our jawans and civilians are being increasingly targeted..Instead of a coherent policy on Pakistan , this government can’t seem to make up its mind on what it should do."
