Sonika Chauhan death: Vikram Chatterjee sent to 14-day judicial custody
Vikram's three-day police custody ended and he was remanded to fourteen-day judicial custody.
He will be produced before the same court again on Jul 24.
Meanwhile, his bail application will be heard at the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday.
On Apr 29, Sonika Chauhan was killed and Chatterjee was seriously injured after their speeding sedan, which was being driven by Chatterjee that day, lost its control and crashed into a pavement near Lake Mall in south Kolkata's Rash Behari Avenue area.
Chatterjee in the initial stages of probe, denied to be in the drunken state when the accident happened. Though medical reports did not clarify whether he was drunk or not, it was proved that the car was driven at a very high speed.
However, Chatterjee later confessed that he had consumed some alcohol on the accident night.
The arrested actor is a popular face on Bengali television as he was playing a lead role in one of the daily soaps. Vikram also acted in several Bengali films.
