Sonu Sood meets Arvind Kejriwal, becomes brand ambassador of Delhi govt's Desh Ke Mentors programme

New Delhi/IBNS: Indian actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Delhi government's Desh Ke Mentors programme, said the city's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Friday.

Under this programme, three lakh young professionals will guide and mentor 10 lakh Delhi government school students.

Though Sood's meeting with Kejriwal, who heads the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), sparked political speculations, the actor turned down any possibility of his joining politics.

"We haven't discussed politics at all," said Sood.

The actor, who extended his helping hand to countless people during the COVID-19 pandemic, Friday praised the AAP government for its work in the national capital.

"The work that has been done by the Delhi government can only be experienced. The whole country needs such work," said Sood, who was accompanied by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP leader Raghav Chadha in the press conference.

Sood's meeting with Kejriwal gained significance also because the actor's homestate Punjab, where the AAP is one of the political players, will go to polls in early 2022.
