'Speed-breaker didi' running scared: PM Modi's fresh dig at Mamata

Cooch Behar, Apr 7 (IBNS/UNI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing a rally at Cooch Behar and said "speed-breaker didi" is now running scared as she knows that people's mood has changed in Bengal.

Modi has been using the name "speed-breaker" for Banerjee as he accused the CM of stalling all kind of developmental project in West Bengal.

Claiming to make Bengal free from the Trinamool Congress Party and the Left, Modi said: "Speed-breaker didi is running scared as she knows that people’s mood has changed.”

West Bengal is a crucial state in the election as it sends 42 MPs to the Lok Sabha.

"In this election, each vote for BJP will strengthen the country and the chowkidar," he said.

The PM said that today, the country has much faith in this chowkidar, because people have started feeling that now "impossible is also possible."

"The poorest of the poor now have their own bank account, their debit card. This was never impossible, but now it is possible," claimed Modi.

"The Centre approved projects worth crores for Cooch Behar. It appeared impossible but it is possible now. Land agreement with Bangladesh was hanging for decades. This was important for Cooch Behar. This also seemed impossible. But it was achieved," he added in his attempt to woo voters from Cooch Behar.

In a direct attack to Banerjee's party, Modi said that people are aware of who has pocketed money from the widespread scams in West Bengal.

"Has Didi informed you why recommendations of 7th pay commission were not implemented? Has Didi told you why despite clearing exams no appointments are being done in Bengal?" Modi questioned.

He said soon, phone calls will become free in India and internet charges will be the least in the world.

"We brought a strict law against human trafficking. If we come to power, we'd ensure its implementation in Bengal,” the Prime Minister said.

“This region is full of potentials, especially tourism. The Centre has spent a lot of money on infrastructure like the Railways. We brought a strict law against human trafficking. If we come to power, we would ensure its implementation in Bengal,” Modi added.

The seven-phase polls to elect MPs to Lok Sabha will begin on April 11.

Counting of the votes will take place on May 23.
