Srinagar DC reviews Eid-ul-Adha arrangements

Srinagar/IBNS: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Thursday convened a meeting of all Sectoral officers to review the arrangements for the upcoming festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

Aijaz on the occasion passed directions to FCS&CA to ensure the process of ration distribution is completed before Eid, so that people do not face any difficulty in this regard.

He also directed the officers to intensify the market checking and ensure all commodities are sold at already fixed prices besides ensure  availability of all essential supplies in the market to avoid hoardings and profiteering, while ordering the SMC authorities to ensure proper fumigation, sanitation and cleanliness at all the places  amid COVID-19 pandemic besides proper functioning of all street lights.

The DC said strict orders have been placed that no one should be allowed to violate COVID-19 SOPs because of anticipated consumer rush in the markets, and anyone found in such involvement will be dealt strictly under law.

The meeting was informed that on the eve of Eid ul Adha the Sheep Husbandry Department would set  up sale outlets (Mandees) for sale of Sacrificial animals (Goats/Sheeps) at designated places across  Srinagar.

The DC asked the concerned to take appropriate measures for ensuring Covid-19 protocols at the sale  mandies and place banners/poster's regarding Covid-19 SOPs to sensitize the masses. It was also  directed that teams of the Veterinary department be kept at these mandees.

During the meeting, the DC urged upon Sectoral officers of PHE and PDD to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity barring curtailment schedules to the district. He asked the PHE department to  keep water tankers in ready state to cater any exigent needs. The R&B authorities were asked to complete  necessary road repairs in the City.

The DC instructed the Food Safety department to activate its market surveillance squads to check the quality of food items such as bakery, confectionery, milk, meat chicken, vegetables and other essentials  in the market and take strict action against the erring traders.

On the occasion, the Traffic police authorities were asked to ensure smooth movement of traffic across the city and issue necessary route plans if required to overcome any traffic jams, similarly, Fire &  Emergency authorities were asked to remain alert and establish fire tenders at specific places including  near Shrines and other prominent religious places.

Among others the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Khurshid Ahmad  Shah, SDM East Owais Mushtaq, SDM West Akshay Labroo, Superintendent Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD,  Joint Commissioner SMC, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency, Poultry Development Officer, besides  officers of Police, FCS&CA, Sheep Husbandry and Legal Metrology.
