Kolkata, Dec 22 (IBNS): The director of state-run Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial (SSKM) hospital Pradip Kumar Mitra on Monday announced that a medical board had been formed for West Bengal Transport and Sports minister Madan Mitra, who has been arrested in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.

There are seven doctors in the medical board- Shibananda Dutta (Cardiologist), Somnath Kundu (Chest Specialist), Satinath Mukherjee (Endocrinologist), Pradip Saha (Psychiatrist), Alok Pandit (Neurologist), Rajendra Pandey (Nephrologist) and Dilip Pal (Urologist).

"After some medical testes, this medical board will take next decision about Madan Mitra", Pradip Mitra said.

Pradip Mitra said that they would not publish further medical bulletins of Madan Mitra to the media and the medical updates would be sent only to the Alipur Central Jail authority.

According to hospital sources, not such critical diseases have been diagnosed in Madan Mitra's body yet.

Accepting the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s appeal and rejecting his bail plea, the Alipur court here on Friday sent  Madan Mitra to judicial custody till Jan 2.

After 3 days in CBI custody, Madan Mitra was produced before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) of Alipur Court Haradhan Mukherjee.

The lawyers of Madan Mitra pleaded for their clients' bail.

After a marathon 5 hours of questioning, the CBI had arrested Madan Mitra  on Dec 12 in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.
