Surat, Apr 18 (IBNS): The Surat Police on Wednesday said a man from Andhra Pradesh has claimed to be the father of the unidentified minor girl, who was raped and strangulated to death.

The police will now conduct a DNA test on the man as well as the girl to ascertain that he is telling truth, media reports said.

The body of the unidentified minor girl was found near a cricket field in Bhestan area of Surat.

She was raped and tortured for at least eight days before being strangulated to death.

The Surat police had earlier registered a case of rape against unidentified accused under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
