Chennai/IBNS: Tamil Nadu on Saturday became the latest Indian state to call a complete lockdown to stem the massive spread of Covid-19.

The state government has announced a lockdown which will be imposed at 4 am on May 10 and will continue till 4 am on 24th of the same month.

The lockdown has been announced within 24 hours since new Chief Minister MK Stalin took oath.

To help people to remain prepared for the lockdown, all shops and establishments will remain open from 6 am to 9 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

E-commerce marketplaces except Dunzo, Swiggy and Zomato will not be allowed to function during the lockdown days, The News Minute reported.

All shops except grocery, vegetables, meat and fish are banned from functioning from May 10 to 24.

Immediately after taking oath as the Chief Minister, Stalin on Friday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an immediate supply of additional medical oxygen as it was agreed in government meetings held in early May.
