Tamil Nadu Assembly reconvenes for third time, evicted DMK MLAs to meet Governor
Led by MK Stalin, the DMK MLAs plan to meet the Governor to complain about the "atrocities" perpetrated against them.
Stalin, who was seen wearing a torn shirt, alleged that he was attacked and forcibly evicted by police.
Stalin also alleged that Speker P Dhanapal had torn his shirt.
The DMK MLAs were evicted after they went on a rampage, breaking chairs and tables, tearing papers and yanking the Speaker's microphone.
All hell broke loose after the Speaker rejected their demand for postponing the Trust vote till secret ballot system is arranged.
According to reports, Speaker P Dhanapal plans to go ahead with the Trust vote.
Earlier, the situation went to such a pass that police had to move in.
The dissenting MLAs also surrounded the Speaker and heckled him for not allowing secret voting in the trust vote.
One of the MLAs even sat on the Speaker's chair. The trust vote was halted amid the chaos and the House adjourned till 3 pm.
Chief Minister Palaniswamy, who seeks the Trust vote for his newly installed Government, needs to prove that at least 117 legislators in the 234-member state Assembly back him.
Of the AIADMK’s official strength of 134, there are 11 dissidents including former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
