Gurgaon/IBNS: A woman allegedly stabbed her husband, following a heated argument, in their apartment in Gurgaon while the couple's children were also present at home, said media reports.

The victim, a 39-year-old engineer, was stabbed in the chest which led to his death when a domestic quarrel took a violent turn, police said, according to an NDTV report.

Police said the children are under emotional stress.

The deceased has been identified as Sachin and his wife Gunjan.

"The incident was reported from Jyoti Park colony. A domestic quarrel between a couple escalated; the wife stabbed the man with a knife that resulted in his death. We have filed a case under relevant sections of the IPC. The investigation is underway," Preetpal Singh, SP, Crime, Gurugram Police, was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Police lodged an FIR after Sachin's brother, Neeraj, filed the complaint against sister-in-law Gunjan.

Their sisters - Reshma and Shilpi have demanded that Gunjan be arrested immediately and punished for killing her husband.

"We demand that the woman be arrested and punished for what she did. We demand justice," said Reshma, Sachin's sister.

"The 11-year-old girl is scared and being manipulated to speak what she has been taught by the mother. She says her father got knifed inadvertently, but that's not true. He was stabbed by his wife," Reshma added.

Police said Sachin got  injured when he tried snatching the knife from his wife. He was rushed to hospital by his brother, but died due to excessive bleeding, police added.
