Telangana govt extends statewide complete lockdown till June 9

Hyderabad/UNI: Amid the second wave of covid-19, the Telangana state Cabinet in its lengthy meeting on Sunday evening  decided to extend the statewide complete lockdown for another 10-days from May 31 to June 9 and daily relaxation has been extended from 6 am to 1 pm.

The State cabinet in the meeting instructed the officials concerned to be alert following the reports that there is a possibility of a third wave and prepare proper action plans.

In view of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, initially the lockdown was imposed on May 12 and later it was extended till May 30,2021.

The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister K. Chadrashekhar Rao held at Pragathi Bhavan, the CMs camp office, here, which discussed in detail about several issues and took the decisions, has decided to implement complete lockdown in all parts of the state from 2 PM to 6 AM , the next day and the lockdown restrictions will not apply from 6 Am to 2 PM.

However, all shops, offices, establishments will close by 1 PM.

For those who go out during the relaxation period to come back home, a one-hour grace period till 2 PM is given, the Cabinet decided.

In the backdrop of Lockdown extension, relaxation hours and Covid, the cabinet also decided to allow registration of lands, properties under the Stamps and Registration department and vehicles registration under the Transport Department should be allowed during the working days.

The State Cabinet , which discussed the Covid situation in the State, also reviewed the spread of the virus, treatment given to the victims and the measures taken by the Medical and Health department officials to contain the spread of the virus.

The Medical and Health department officials informed the Cabinet that the Corona is gradually decreasing in the State.

The Cabinet has instructed that the State Health secretary along with the Medical and Health officials should visit places like Madhira, Satthupalli, Alampur, Gadwal, Narayanpet, Maktal, Nagarjuna Sagar, Kodad, Huzurabad where Corona spread is more and are on the state Borders to review the situation and take the necessary measures.

The Cabinet also instructed the Medical and Health Department to review prevailing situations in all the Area, District and other hospitals and take measures for the infrastructure and facilities needed there.

Telangana reported 1,801 new Covid infections and 16 fatalities on Sunday, taking the cumulative number of deaths to 3,263 and the total number of positive cases to 5,75, 827. The number of active cases in Telangana, as on Sunday evening, stood at 35,042.
