Hyderabad, May 4 (IBNS) : Telangana police on Thursday registered a criminal case against AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh following a complaint on his tweets that Telangana police hosted a fake ISIS website to radicalize Muslim youth, The Hindu reported.

The Jubilee Hills police of Hyderabad, which received a complaint in this regard  issued the First Information Report (FIR) against the Congress leader who was also in-charge of party’s Telangana wing.

The police invoked sections 505 (1) (a) and (b) (making statement to cause any officer to mutiny or otherwise disregard or fail in his duty and cause fear or alarm among public) and 505 (2) ( making statement causing feelings of enmity, hatred) of Indian Penal Code against him.

Singh’s tweets triggered  controversy as he claimed that Telangana police hosted the fake website luring Muslim youth towards ISIS. He criticized that the police action was not justified.

Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi party leaders have condemned  Singh's remarks and demanded an unconditional apology from his “biased tweets”.

However, the Congress leader stuck to his statement saying that he had evidence to substantiate his remarks.
