The US declares Syed Salahuddin as global terrorist

New Delhi, Jun 27 (IBNS): Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi said that the US decision to declare Syed Salahuddin a global terrorist will help in choling his movements and financing, according to media reports on Tuesday.

Syed Salahuddin, chief of the terrorist group Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, was declared a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US Department of State, a few hours prior to the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, media reported.

"In September 2016, Salahuddin vowed to block any peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict, threatened to train more Kashmiri suicide bombers, and vowed to turn the Kashmir valley "into a graveyard for Indian forces" said the US State Department in a statement, explaining the action, reported NDTV.

Allegedly the Hizbul chief operates out of Pakistan.
