Srinagar, Feb 14 (IBNS): Three militants were killed while a soldier got injured in a fierce encounter at Kralgund area of Handwara in Kupwara frontier district of north Kashmir, the Indian Army said on Tuesday.

According to reports, army and police laid siege in Kralgund village of Handwara town after receiving inputs about some militants in the area.

“When search party zeroed the area, the hiding militants opened fire on the security forces ensuing fierce gunfight for some hours,” said an army officer.

He said that during the gunfight three militants were killed while one army jawan got injured.

The injured soldier was later shifted to a nearby army hospital for advanced treatment.

The encounter comes just two days after four terrorists were killed by security forces on Sunday.

Two Indian Army jawans lost their lives in that encounter, which took place in the Nowpora Yaripora area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
