Three suspected militants killed in gun fight with security forces in Nagaland's Mon district

Guwahati, Dec 3 (IBNS): At least three suspected ULFA-I militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Nagaland's Mon district on Monday. 

According to the reports, the gun fight took place between Wating and Wangla area in Mon district along the Assam-Nagaland border where a 10-12 members of militant group equipped with heavy weapons took shelter.

Sources said that, the militant group equipped with heavy weapons took shelter at the remote area and was trying to sneak into Assam.

When security personnel reached the remote area, the militants started fire upon security personnel and heavy rounds of bullet were exchanged from both sides.

Three militants were killed in the fierce gun battle and security forces recovered one body from the area.

Sources further said that, at least two security personnel were injured in the gun fight.

Combing operation is still on in the area.
