Three youths arrested for raping two minor girls in Assam’s Barpeta district

Guwahati/IBNS: Police have arrested three youths for allegedly raping two minor girls in Assam’s Barpeta district.

The incident took place at Khelli village under Kalgachia police station in Barpeta district.

According to the reports, two of the arrested youths had lured the victim girls claiming that both were in love with the minor girls and promised to marry them.

The youths had allegedly taken away the minor girls to another place and raped them.

After raping them the youths had left the victim girls nearby their native village and ran away from the area.

Later, local villagers and family members had rescued the victims and separately lodged complaints to the police.

Barpeta district police had arrested three youths for their alleged involvement in the incident.

The arrested youths were identified as Mafidul Islam, Faridul Islam and Rajob Ali.

Police had also registered a case under Section 365/376 (3)/34 of IPC and R/W Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act.
