Tirupati declared containment zone with night curfew

Tirupati/UNI: The temple city of Tirupati has been declared as a Covid containment zone by the Tirupati Municipal Corporation (TMC).

TMC commissioner PS Girisha on Monday announced that in view of huge spike in Covid positive cases, night curfew has been imposed from evening 7.00 pm to morning 6.00 am from April 27 onwards.

Similarly, mother shops and establishments will also be open for six hours from morning 07.00 am to 14.00 Hours, Girisha said in at a meeting of traders association, auto and jeep driver unions, etc which was attended by local MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, SP Venkatappala Naidu.

He said almost every division in Tirupati has a large number of Covid positive cases and called for citizens to restrict themselves and also support the district administration in implementing Covid relief programs,

Speaking on the occasion local MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said on the directions of state and central governments the pilgrim city has been declared as Containment zone. The citizens have to cooperate in making the Covid testing operations and Vaccination campaign a grand success in the best interests of all, he added.
