TMC calls Shah's rally a flop show

Kolkata, Jan 20 (IBNS): The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday called Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah's rally in West Bengal's Bardhaman city as a 'flop show'.

"Today’s BJP rally at Bardhaman was a flop-show. Main speaker’s speech lasted only a few minutes," state Minister and senior TMC secretary general  Partha Chatterjee told media.

Chatterjee said he hoped that Shah understood that it is difficult to bloom 'lotus' in Bengal.

Launching a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Tuesday accused her of endangering the country's security and asked the people to uproot the Trinamool Congress Government.

Speaking at a rally here on the occasion of the party's membership drive, Shah claimed that Mamata Banerjee would not be able to stop his party's foray into the state and that her party would be drowned in the Ganga.

He also accused Banerjee of playing a votebank politics and concentrating on protecting the party leaders, involved in the Saradha chit fund scam.

Referrring to the October blast that took place in Burdwan leading to the footprints of Bangladesh-based terrorists, Shah said the explosion took place because Trinamool was sheltering Bangladeshi infiltrators.

"The Burdwan blast is only an instance of the Trinamool's vote bank politics. Had there been a proper investigation into the blast in Kolkata that took place a year ago, the Burdwan blast would not have happened. But, for the sake of vote bank politics, the Trinamool government did not probe it properly," the BJP President said.

"Even when the National Investigation Agency began probing the Burdwan blast, Banerjee objected to it. . The Mamata government is answerable for the blast," he said.

"Bengal is a bordering state and because of its vote bank politics, the state  government is allowing Bangladeshis to infiltrate, which is a threat to the country's security," shah said.

He alleged that the Mamata regime was worse than that of the Left and urged the people to usher in a change once again.

"While Narendra Modi has taken the country forward on the path of development, Trinamool Congress is taking the state backwards...." he said.
