TMC heading towards a massive win in WB civic polls

Kolkata, Apr 28 (IBNS): The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is all set to win the civic polls with the party leading in both the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections and the 91 civic bodies in West Bengal as counting of votes started on Tuesday.

At around 12:40 am, in the KMC polls, the TMC is leading in 115 seats, Left Front in 14, BJP 7, the Congress 5 while others are ahead in 3 seats.

In the state civic bodies, the TMC is currently ahead in 73 seats.

The Left Front is leading in five seats while the Congress is ahead in five seats .

Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee won from ward no. 131.

TMC MP Derek O'Brien tweeted: "#BengalVerdict 92 municipalities counting on.Trinamool sweeping. BJP finishing 4th with zero...gas balloon gone phuuuush."

"#BengalVerdict @MamataOfficial & @AITCofficial went to people with a simple msg: u've seen the development we've done,bless us to continue," he said.

Another TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee tweeted: "Booooooooooom!!!! Thank you Kolkata. Thank you Bengal!!!! #TMCForKMC #TMC4Bengal."

There are 7,636 candidates who contested for 1,946 wards of the 91 municipal bodies across West Bengal on Saturday.

Polling for the  144-seat KMC was held on Apr 18.
