TMC MLA apologises after making objectionable remarks on CPI-M legislator in Bengal Assembly

Kolkata/IBNS: A woman TMC MLA on Saturday faced heavy criticisms after making an objectionable statement on another woman MLA of CPI-M party during a post-budget session in West Bengal assembly, Bidhan Sabha Bhavan, reports said.

Reportedly, TMC MLA from East Burdwan's Memari constituency Nargis Begum engaged in a verbal spat with West Burdwan's Jamuria's CPI-M legislator Jahanara Khan in the assembly house following which the TMC lawmaker made the objectionable remark on CPI-M's Jahanara Khan.

Following the incident, CPI-M MLA Jahanara broke into tears and complained against the remark to the speaker of West Bengal assembly, Biman Banerjee.

After the speaker intervened into the matter, TMC MLA Nargis Begum apologised to the CPI-M legislator, claiming her statement as a 'slip-of-tongue'.

Besides the Opposition, leaders of ruling TMC condemned of the incident.
