TMC nominates former IAS and Modi critic Jawhar Sircar to Rajya Sabha

The TMC has put up a tweet which reads,"We are delighted to nominate Mr. @jawharsircar in the Upper House of the Parliament. Mr. Sircar spent nearly 42 years in public service & was also the former CEO of Prasar Bharati. His invaluable contribution to public service shall help us serve our country even better!"

Sircar, 69, very recently was seen criticising West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee's arch-rival Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government on a number of issues including the summoning of former state Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay.

Sircar had supported the Mamata Banerjee government over its handling of the crisis caused by the Centre's summon of Alapan Bandyopadhyay, who had rebuffed the direction of the country's ruling dispensation.

Also, the former bureaucrat, whose career spanned 42 years, recently tweeted a fake picture suggesting Modi bowing down to top businessman Mukesh Ambani's wife Nita Ambani.

The TMC's Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant after the resignation of former Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi, who joined the BJP earlier this year.
