Tribal leader Jyoti Tirkey, 2 others join Trinamool Congress

Kolkata: Prominent tribal leader of Darjeeling District Jyoti Tirkey and two others on Tuesday joined the Trinamool Congress, just months ahead of the Assembly polls.

Apart from Tirkey, Manav Jaiswal and Aloke Chakravorty.

They joined the party in the presence of state minister Partha Chatterjee.

Jyoti Tirkey said: "I want to work for my people under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee."  

After joining the party, Trade Union leader Aloke Chakravorty said: "This is my Ghar Wapsi, and I want to highlight that the leaders who are leaving the party now, will again come back soon.”

Manav Jaiswal said, “What Bengal thinks today, India thinks almost 10 years later. I want to be a part of AITC and work for the people of my state."
