Trump lauds contributions of Hindus and Indian Americans on I-Day

Chicago, Aug 16 (IBNS): US President Donald J. Trump lauded the "irreplaceable contributions of Hindus and Indian Americans" in shaping the character of his country on the occasion of India's 71st Independence Day.

"Thanks to the irreplaceable contributions of Hindus and Indian Americans, the future of our valued partnership has never looked brighter, and we continue to foster even greater cooperation for future generations," Trump said in a message to the India Day parade in Chicago on Tuesday.

"As we celebrate this magnificent milestone for the people of India, we proudly recognise all of Hindus and Indian Americans who have been influential in shaping the character of our great nation," Trump's message said.

Trump also spoke with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to congratulate the 1.2 billion citizens of India, who celebrated freedom and independence.

The leaders resolved to enhance peace and stability across the Indo-Pacific region by establishing a new 2-by-2 ministerial dialogue that will elevate their strategic consultations.

As the leaders of two of the world’s largest and fastest-growing major economies, President Trump and Prime Minister Modi looked forward to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India this November.

Trump has asked Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump to lead the United States summit delegation.

President Trump further welcomed the first ever shipment of American crude oil to India, which will occur from Texas this month, pledging that the United States would continue to be a reliable, long-term supplier of energy.

PM Modi thanked President Trump for his strong leadership uniting the world against the North Korean menace.
