Truth needs to be told loud and clear to bring change: Rahul Gandhi on #MeToo

Rahul had reserved his comment a day back while holding a press conference.

He took to Twitter to say, "It’s about time everyone learns to treat women with respect and dignity. I’m glad the space for those who don't, is closing. The truth needs to be told loud and clear in order to bring about change. #MeToo"

Tanushree has alleged that Patekar misbehaved with her on the sets of 2008 movie Horn Ok Pleassss.  

She said the incident of misbehavior occurred during the shooting of the Bollywood movie in 2008.

The actress said she was supposed to perform a special dance number for in the movie.

Tanushree told News 18 that Patekar made her uncomfortable to the extent that she eventually had to opt out of doing the song.

In one of the recent developments, writer-director-producer Vinta Nanda has recounted her own experience of getting violated years ago.

Nanda took to social media to share her own experience, accusing actor Alok Nath, who is known for portraying "Sanskari" (traditional/honourable) roles, of rape.

Recounting her experience on the sets of Hindi serial Tara, Nanda said an "alcoholic" Alok had harassed the lead actress of the show.

After the television show had ended, Nanda said, Alok had raped her after allegedly spiking her drinks while she attended a party. 

Actress Kangana Ranaut has alleged that producer-director Vikas Bahl had sexually misbehaved with her while they used to meet socially.

The Queen actress said: "I often told him off. He was scared of me but still every time we met socially greeted and hugged each other, he'd bury his face in my neck and hold me really tight and breathe in the smell of my hair. It took me great amount of strength and effort to pull myself out of his embrace. He'd say, 'I love how you smell K'."

The #MeToo movement didn't spare the Narendra Modi government at the Centre as a woman journalist has accused Union Minister MJ Akbar of sexually harassing her.

Later, journalist Priya Ramani was joined by five others who have levelled their allegations against Akbar, who is the Minister of State for External Affairs.

Though Union Ministers Sushma Swaraj and Ravi Shankar Prasad refused to comment on the matter, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi said there should be an investigation into the matter.

The Congress has demanded the resignation of Akbar.
