Islampur, Apr 18 (UNI) A TV journalist, Partha Pratim Ghosh and his cameraman Swapan Majumder while covering the election at a booth in Goalpokor under Raiganj Lok Sabha segment in north Bengal were today badly assaulted after their camera was destroyed and identity cards were taken away, even as the ECI has sought a detail report from the district officials.

Ghosh received head wounds and has been hospitalised at the Islampur town. Ghosh alleged that he and his cameraman had rushed to Kataphoolbari polling booth to cover the vote looting where the miscreants assaulted them badly after breaking the camera and robbing their identity cards, meant for election coverage. Both the victims represent private TV channel ABP Ananda.

Elsewhere, CPI(M) candidate at Raiganj Md Salim's car was vandalised by the miscreants. Another report said police fired ear gas canisters on the NH 31 after
hundreds of voters blocked the highway to protest alleged looting of votes at a booth, also under Raiganj constituency in north Bengal.

The ECI also sought reports from the troubled where the voters alleged the absence of central forces.
