Two minor girls raped in UP, one dies
Lucknow/UNI: In two separate attacks on modesty of minors in Uttar Pradesh, a nine-year-old girl was raped and left critical by her relative in Ferozabad while in Gautam Buddha Nagar of Noida, another eight-year-old girl was raped and killed by her own cousin.
In the first incident reported from Ferozabad, 22-year-old Sunil, hailing from Ujhani locality of Mainpuri, was visiting his aunt’s house in Sirsaganj locality of Ferozabad, following the lock down in the state.
On Saturday, he took one of his 9-year-old relative to show her some clips on mobile phone. He took her in a secluded place and later raped. The girl was seriously injured in the process and after hearing her screams, the relatives rushed to her rescue and took her to community health centre.
However, finding her condition to be 'critical’, the doctors referred her to District Hospital. A case has been registered in this regard and the accused was arrested.
In another shocking incident in Noida, a 19-year-old youth was arrested by the police on Sunday for allegedly raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl in Salarpur area. The minor was admitted to the Child PGI Hospital for treatment.
However, she could not survive, confirmed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone-1 Gautam Budh Nagar Sankalp Sharma.
Cousin of the victim was accused in the gruesome crime.
Sharma said that the victim and the accused youth were relatives. She was the daughter of his maternal uncle and they were neighbours.
The 19-year-old accused, identified as Jeetu, is native of Nalanda district of Bihar.
The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Noida Sector 49 Police Station. The accused youth has been booked under sections 302 (punishment for murder) and 371 (1) (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012. Further investigation in the case is underway.
